Lose it! Challenge Recap

Another successful Lose it! Challenge in the books. 48 people took on our 2015 challenge that started on January 12th. Out of everyone we did post measurements on, our group lost a total of 159.2 pounds and 140 inches. That’s just over 11 1/2 feet! Success comes in all different forms; dropping pounds, dropping body fat, dropping inches, making a conscious effort to make better choices, being able to say you exercised XX days this week.

Congratulations to Lori Predmore, our 2015 Lose it! Challenge winner! Lori has been a member for about 10 years but is the first to admit she hasn’t used the club much in that time. Her weight loss story began in December 2014 as the thought of her 50th birthday was rounding the corner. She’s been wanting to lose some weight but it wasn’t until her husband threatened to take her off the family membership that she started thinking about making some changes. She was on our website looking for classes to get involved in and came across the Lose it! Challenge. Perfect! The program offered her accountability and a little competition, two things that motivate her! She came in for measurements on January 12th and said, “I’m going to win this thing!” And sure enough, she did. Lori dropped 10.38% body fat, 22.2 pounds and 24.75 inches in circumference measurements.

Lori signed up for our level two involvement which she participated in three personal training sessions and a nutrition consultation. It was just enough to commit her from a wishy washy never go to the gym attitude to committing to five days a week. Meeting with the nutritionist was also very helpful. Normally Lori would have cut back her eating to lose weight as she has always done in the past. But after consulting with our nutritionist, Lori added food to her diet! She started snacking throughout the day. She didn’t cut anything out of her diet that she would eventually want to bring back. What’s the point of that, that’s just when you gain it all back!

In the end, Lori is successful because the changes she made were all realistic lifestyle changes. She has and plans to continue, to keep exercising five days a week along with her realistic nutrition modifications. Since Lose it! ended in April, Lori has had a few trips over the last three weeks. We all know how going out of town can be a challenge on staying consistent with diet and exercise. She still enjoyed herself on her travels, made smart food choices when she needed to and was actually excited to get back to her routine of going to the gym when she got home! As for her food intake, she has learned how to make smarter food choices which is why this time, Lori is confident that the weight will stay off. You can still enjoy what life has to offer if you keep it all balanced.

We congratulate you Lori and all of our successful participants in the challenge this year. Keep the momentum going!
