April Film Night: "I, Robot" (2004)

Wednesday, April 4th │ 7:00-9:00 pm
Members: Complimentary │ Non-Members: Standard Guest Fee

Based on a book by Isaac Asimov and directed by Alex Proyas, I, Robot (2004) takes place in 2035 when robots perform service for their human owners. Chicago detective Del Spooner (Will Smith), who fears robots, investigates the murder of Dr. Alfred Lanning (James Cromwell), an employee at U.S. Robotics. It appears that a robot named Sony may have killed the doctor. Since robots are not programmed to kill, it is now possible that they can take over the world, as they are capable of violating the laws of robotics. Spooner is assisted by psychologist Dr. Susan Calvin (Bridget Moynahan), who has studied the robotic mind. Question: is your smart phone smarter than you and have you been treating it well? Better take care of your appliances too!!!

Enjoy complimentary appetizers and wine during the film, as well as post-film discussion with film buff, Jim Clauss.
