FILM SYNOPSIS
Held by the police as a raving lunatic, Dr. Miles Bennell recounts to a psychiatrist the events that have turned his life upside down. He returned to his small town the previous Thursday, having been called back from a medical conference by his nurse, who was being flooded with patients. He arrives to find that most have canceled their appointments, but the few cases he does have all have the same story: someone close to them is acting strangely as if they had been replaced. Consulting some of his colleagues, he finds that these types of reports have been coming in all week and they conclude it must be some type of mass hysteria. However, when his friends Jack and Teddy Belicec show him a partly formed body they have uncovered in their home, he begins to realize that there may be some truth to the wild stories he has been hearing.

  • Member of the Month - Randy Anderson

Between the Beat the Bridge Race and a vacation to Hawaii, Randy Anderson was very motivated to get in shape. Last year, Randy's mom died of Juvenile Diabetes. Determined to make a difference, Randy signed up for the Beat the Bridge Race, which raises money for Juvenile Diabetes. With the help of Personal Fitness Trainer, Eric Pranzarone, Randy was able to reach his fitness goals!

When he's not running hills with his black labs or riding his bike, chances are you'll find Randy working diligenly on the circuit training routine that Eric established for him. Eric says, "Randy is extrememly motivated and works very hard toward his goals. For example, we talked once about using a jump-rope to cross train for running. After a few days Randy had already improved his jump-rope skill. After just a few weeks, Randy was really good at jump-rope and said his running felt better as well. Randy was able to take what he learned from a few sessions with me and do the work to get the results he wanted." Randy's determination and motivation helped him shed 20 pounds, and raise $1800 in donations for the Beat the Bridge Race.

    Congratulations Randy!

Why Stretching is Important for Golf
By Paul Nelson, Personal Fitness Trainer

A Golf swing is a dynamic activity requiring a large amount of flexibility and mobility. Flexibility refers to the extensibility of muscle and soft tissue, whereas mobility refers to the movement around a joint. If you’ve ever seen how far the best golfers can rotate their shoulders in relation to their lower body, you know how much this is required for peak performance. In addition if your tonic or postural muscles are shortened they can greatly affect your mechanics and your ability to generate power. Lets take a look at some muscles and exercises that can greatly affect your swing.

    HIP FLEXORS
These muscles are commonly shortened as a result of sitting too much. When the hip flexors are shortened it can impair function of the glutes which are key for generating power.

    ERECTOR SPINAE AND OBLIQUES
These muscles need to be flexible for good torso rotation.

Here are some dynamic exercises to help increase mobility.

    QUADRUPED SPINAL ROTATION
This is a dynamic exercise, which will help increase mobility and range of motion in the thoracic and lumbar spine.

    OVERHEAD REACH SITTING AGAINST WALL
Help prevent thoracic kyphosis (rounding of upper back), which restricts torso rotation.
