Film Night:
Bound for Glory (1976)
This month’s film celebrates the life of singer and songwriter Woody (Woodrow Wilson) Guthrie. The movie is based on his autobiography of the same name that was published in 1943. The story, told in his Oklahoman dialect, was described in a New York Times review as follows: "Some day people are going to wake up to the fact that Woody Guthrie and the ten thousand songs that leap and tumble off the strings of his music box are a national possession like Yellowstone and Yosemite, and part of the best stuff this country has to show the world." The film, starring David Carradine, won two Oscars (Best Cinematography and Best Music).
Join us Tuesday, July 14th at 7:00 pm in the Café.
