UPDATE Wednesday, November 18th 2020

Dear Seattle Athletic Club Member,

As you are aware, Governor Inslee recently announced the closure of all indoor fitness facilities through December 14th. However, after conferring with the State and County, they have confirmed that Water Recreation Facilities were not included in this most recent mandate. 

Therefore, we are happy to announce that the Club has been approved to re-open our Pool as of Thursday, November 19th.

As we have throughout the current health crisis, we are going to proceed with an abundance of caution and apply greater safeguards than what the State requires. Our primary mission after all is to protect and enhance the health and well-being of our SAC community.

These guidelines include:

  • One swimmer per lane only (two if from the same household)

    • Each lane reservation will be 45 minutes in duration, with a 15-minute cleaning and transition window in-between appointments.

    • Lanes will be staggered so the "end" that each swimmer starts and finishes is appropriately distanced. Swimmers will be asked to take their "breaks" at the designated "end" or "home" base for that specific lane.

  • Water Aerobics

    • Classes limited to 5 participants and require pre-registration.

  • No Family Swim will be available at this time

  • Reservations are required through the Member Portal, Club App, or at the Front Desk.

  • Pool Equipment

    • Swimmers must come prepared to swim, we are unable to provide access to the lockers at this time.

    • Swimmers must bring their own towels as regular towel service will not be available.

    • Minimal equipment will be accessible (kickboards, pull-buoys, etc).

    • Pre-rinse and post rinse showers ONLY. Soap will not be provided or allowed for use.

    • Swimmers must wear flip-flops to and from the showers and on the pool deck.

    • Masks are required on the pool deck up until the time you are getting into the pool and immediately upon exiting the pool

The Pool hours of operation, beginning Thursday, November 19th will be:

  • Monday-Friday: 7:00 am - 8:00 pm

  • Saturday/Sunday: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Even though we're disappointed that we are not currently able to provide access to all our services and amenities at this time, given the new restrictions and growing number of cases within the state, we're committed to providing our members as much support as possible in a safe and effective manner. In particular, we hope that you will take advantage of the wide array of virtual classes and programs available through our Facebook, YouTube, Zoom, and other Social Media outlets. 

Please remember to take the time to prioritize your overall health and wellbeing during this historically challenging time. We urge everyone to continue taking all recommended precautions in your personal lives to safeguard your health and the health of others.

UPDATE Monday, November 16th 2020

Dear Seattle Athletic Club Community,

Please be advised that earlier this morning Governor Inslee announced that all indoor fitness facilities must close for four (4) weeks as of midnight on Monday, November 16th.

Consequently, we regret to inform you that the Club will be closing after our normal operating hours on Monday, November 16th, through Monday, December 14th. We apologize for the suddenness of the closure and for the resulting inconvenience it may cause you.

As a result, we will automatically be placing all active memberships on hold for the entire month of December. The hold fee (⅓ of your current dues rate) will not only keep your membership in good standing, but it will also go a long way to ensuring we will be here to serve you in the future. We have received so many heartwarming messages over the past few hours from members requesting information on how they can financially support the Club and its staff. Should you have the desire and means to continue to pay your full membership dues, please let us know you wish to do so. These are extremely challenging times for small businesses such as ours. Your ongoing support will go a long way in ensuring that we can serve you into the future.

Your support will also allow the Club to provide a wide array of virtual classes and programs to assist (and entertain) you through this extremely challenging time. Please stay tuned for email and social media updates over the next few days regarding an updated virtual class and program schedule.

We also have an extensive library of fitness resources available for you on demand through our YouTube pages. The current content includes live-streaming and pre-recorded classes, training forums, online exercise platforms, virtual activities and more!

Current Phase 2 "Safe Start" Partial Re-opening Offerings:

Since our re-opening, there have been multiple updates and adjustments to what the State has allowed us to provide. As such, we’d like to quickly overview all the services and amenities that are currently open and available for you to take advantage of!

Fitness

  • We currently have 64 Cardio Room time slots and 64 Weight Room time slots to choose from per week! 
  • Due to the State regulations requiring a minimum of 300 square feet of spacing per person, each room will be limited to the following capacity limits:
    • Weight Room - 7 participants
    • Cardio Room - 5 participants 

Group Exercise

  • Per the State regulations requiring a minimum of 300 square feet of distancing per person, the following rooms will have the participant capacity limits of:
    • Mind-Body Studio - 8 participants plus the instructor
    • Gymnasium - 10 participants plus the instructor
    • Cycle Studio - 5 participants plus the instructor
  • We now have 32 Group Fitness classes available per week with reservation!
    • 7 BODYPUMP classes per week
    • 1 Zumba class per week
    • 8 Cycle classes per week
    • 6 Barre classes per week
    • 2 Pilates Mat classes per week
    • 2 Yoga classes per week
    • 6 Water Aerobics classes per week
  • Virtual Cycling and Group Exercise classes within the studios are available to book online. Reserve a time that you can have the entire studio to yourself and take one of - or hundreds of - on demand classes! We now have 48 in-studio Virtual Cycle class reservation time slots and 30 Fitness on Demand reservation time slots available per week!
  • All classes need to be pre-booked (through the Member portal, Club App or at the Front Desk). Bookings may be made up to 49 hours in advance.
  • Select classes will be streamed live via Zoom for members that are uncomfortable coming into the Club. Links can be found in the class description.
  • The Group Exercise schedule can be found on our websites located here.

Aquatics

  • Individual Lap Swimming (one person per lane)
    • Each lane reservation will be either 45 minutes in duration, with a 15-minute cleaning and transition window in-between appointments.
    • We now have 72 Lap Swim timeslots each with 4 lanes available for booking per week!
    • Lanes will be staggered so the "end" that each swimmer starts and finishes is appropriately distanced. Swimmers will be asked to take their "breaks" at the designated "end" or "home" base for that specific lane.
  • Family Swim
    • Only two (2) families per session, with up to four (4) individuals per family.
    • Only one name (primary member) is required to book a family reservation spot.
  • Swim Lessons
    • One lane is available for pre-booked swim lessons. When not reserved for a lesson, the lane will be open for lap swimming bookings.

  • Water Aerobics
    • Classes of up to 5 participants are now available and require pre-registration (through the Member Portal, Club App or at the Front Desk).
  • Pool Equipment

Pilates

  • Private one-on-one training available - the studio will have one instructor at a time and there will be a time buffer in between clients to allow for proper sanitation and setup of equipment. Verbal coaching is only allowed.
  • Duet sessions per appointment are available.
  • Virtual private, duet and small group sessions are available.
  • Complimentary in-person and online Pilates Mat classes are available.
  • Equipment has been re-orientated within the facility to encourage distancing.

Court Sports

  • Squash
    • Squash Courts are open for solo play at this time.
    • One person per court only (no same household accommodation).
    • There will be a mandated 30-minute “non-use” time in-between reservations to allow for cleaning and air-turnover.
    • Face masks will be required for members. Face shields are strongly recommended.
    • Properly regulated one-on-one coaching now also available.

  • Pickleball/Badminton
    • The Pickleball and Badminton Court is available for booking at predesignated times through the Member portal, Club App or at the Front Desk. 
    • Court availability can be found on our website here.
    • 4 people maximum for each booking time slot.
    • Face masks are required and face shields are recommended.
    • Required use of own Pickleball rather than using shared items.
    • A minimum of 6 feet of physical distance between individuals is required at all times.
    • Own racquet is required. No rental or Club equipment will be available.

Basketball

  • Members may reserve one (1) of four (4) spots on the basketball court. 
  • No games or competitions are allowed. Usage is limited to practice drills only.
  • No contact is allowed and a minimum of six feet of physical distance between individuals is required at all times.
  • All reservations need to be pre-booked (through the Member Portal, Club App or at the Front Desk).
  • Court availability can be found on our website here.
  • Face masks are required. Face shields are strongly recommended.
  • Individuals are asked to bring their own balls. Club balls will be available, but it is required that users wipe down the ball before and after use.

Our wonderful Massage therapists Allyson and Jen are back and excited to get their craft going again.

Major restrictions and requirements to consider during your visit include:

  • Unavailable services - Childcare, Café, Locker Rooms (*vanities and restrooms will remain open), showers (other than rinsing pre-swim), towel service, and Spa areas
  • Members must have a pre-booked appointment time in a class, court, cardio reservation or training session prior to entering the Club.   • Between reservation time slots, our cleaning staff will be performing a thorough sanitization spraying and cleaning of all equipment.
  • We ask members to limit reservations to one reservation, in each modality, per day. If you are unable to make a reservation timeframe, please ensure you cancel the appointment so other members can utilize the space. 
  • Members with reservations have first priority and staff will be regularly monitoring all spaces. However if a space is not currently at the posted capacity, members are welcome to utilize the open space. Members are responsible for not entering an area that is already at capacity.
  • Face masks are required within the facility at all times. If the intensity level of exercise becomes too strenuous, we ask you to manage and reduce your exertion level.
  • A minimum of 6 feet of physical distance between individuals must be maintained at all times in all areas.
