Pilates
Pilates is a transformative exercise method designed to stretch, strengthen, and tone your body, creating long, lean muscles while improving posture, body awareness, and core strength. By focusing on your “powerhouse”—the core muscles of the back, hips, and abdominals—Pilates promotes balance, alignment, and overall well-being.
At Seattle Athletic Club Northgate, our state-of-the-art Pilates Studio is equipped with top-tier equipment, including Gratz Universal Reformers, Wunda Chairs, a Ladder Barrel, and a Peak Cadillac (trapeze table). These tools, combined with expert instruction, provide a truly unparalleled Pilates experience.
Our Certified Pilates Instructors are among the best in the industry, having completed rigorous training to achieve the highest credentials. Our instructors have specialized training in functional movement, pre/post-natal Pilates and injury rehabilitation.

About Helen
Feel good movement is Helen’s passion. A nerd at heart, sessions with Helen might include a TED Talk on the anatomy of the hip or a spirited lecture on the state of Dungeons and Dragons. Either way, she’ll make sure that you laugh, move, and feel great the whole time.
More about Helen
After completing her initial STOTT Pilates Certification, she dove deep into specialized courses for Postural Analysis and Functional Movement, only furthering her ability to totally geek out on biomechanics. And then in 2022 when she learned she was pregnant, she turned that same interest in functional movement into a specialization in both Pre- and Post-natal Pilates.
In addition to her Stott Pilates training and specializations, Helen has studied the Gyrotonic Expansion System and Myofascial-Release Techniques and is a certified Barre Instructor. She lives in north Seattle with her husband, daughter, and two house rabbits; she’ll probably show you pictures.

Jennifer Hiatt - Pilates Instructor
About Jennifer
Jennifer loves to move, and is passionate about staying active at any age and any size. She switched careers to become a Pilates instructor because she enjoys making exercise approachable and helping others feel good in their bodies.
More about Jennifer
Initially intimidated by MAT classes, she instead gravitated to yoga, cardio, and weight lifting workouts. But an intro reformer session at Seattle Athletic Club hooked her on Pilates for its mindfulness, alignment, and core stability focus and she’s been practicing ever since. Her appreciation for the practice deepened as it helped her continue exercising and regain balance while healing from joint issues that limited other activity (a lifelong challenge for hyper-mobile humans). She loves that Pilates can be tailored to a variety of mobility issues, life stages, and energy levels, while still building strength and confidence.
Jennifer enjoys meeting people where they are with their movement goals and encouraging them to explore further. She hopes to share tools that create ease of everyday movement both in and outside of the studio.
